Our client provides safe transitional housing alongside wrap-around support services-including life skills training, employment support, counselling, and advocacy-designed to break the cycle of homelessness and help residents move toward stable, independent living. The service works holistically with men facing complex challenges including trauma, mental health concerns, addiction, and justice system involvement.
About the role
This role involves supporting men within a residential service as they move through their intake, stay, and transition planning. Working as part of a small team, you will help guide each resident's journey through the service while maintaining a strong focus on safety, engagement, and progress.
- Build strong, healthy rapport with residents from a wide range of backgrounds, including trauma, mental health, addiction, and judicial system involvement
- Complete assessments, identify risks, and develop practical risk management plans that can be followed by staff
- Coordinate each resident's pathway through the service, including goal planning, transition support, and next-step planning
- Work closely with internal staff and provide direction around how risks are managed within the house environment
- Liaise with external agencies and community services to advocate for residents and support access to appropriate services and placements
About you
- Right to work in New Zealand
- Qualified Social Worker, ideally with relevant experience in complex community or residential settings
- Able to build rapport with men from diverse backgrounds while maintaining clear professional boundaries
- Strong risk assessment, risk management, and coordination skills
- Confident working with external agencies and navigating complex systems and processes
- Comfortable working in a small team environment where collaboration and initiative are essential
- Motivated, resilient, and able to keep work progressing in a fast-paced service
- Willingness to continue professional development and ongoing learning
