What You'll Be Doing

Clinical Leadership & Excellence

  • Provide high quality nursing support and intervention across respiratory care, bowel & bladder management, pressure injury prevention, autonomic dysreflexia, wound care, and safe manual handling.
  • Complete comprehensive assessments and co‑create support and risk plans with residents and their whānau.
  • Oversee safe medication systems and clinical documentation.
  • Drive audits, continuous improvement, and high‑quality outcomes.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Recruit, roster, supervise, and grow Kaimahi Hauora in a supportive, learning‑focused environment.
  • Deliver competency-based training and clinical coaching on shift.
  • Foster a culture of safety, inclusiveness, accountability, and teamwork.

Person‑Centred Care

  • Promote dignity, autonomy, informed choice, and supported decision making.
  • Ensure safeguarding practices are strong and uphold resident rights at all times.

Operations, Quality & Safety

  • Manage daily operations, staffing, equipment, and resource planning.
  • Lead risk management, incident investigations, health & safety processes, and emergency preparedness.
  • Maintain full compliance with health and disability standards.

Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with residents, their whānau, referrers, clinicians, suppliers, and partners.
  • Represent the service in reviews, audits, and multidisciplinary meetings.

On‑Call Leadership

  • Provide clinical support after hours on a shared roster.

What You'll Bring

Essential

  • Registered Nurse with current APC.
  • 3-5+ years post‑registration experience in complex disability, community care, rehabilitation, or spinal injury.
  • Strong clinical expertise: wound care, IPC, medication management, pressure injury prevention, emergency response.
  • Proven leadership experience-rosters, supervision, coaching, performance management.
  • Excellent communication, cultural competence, and partnership approach with residents and whānau.
  • Confident with electronic client systems and Microsoft 365.
  • Organised, calm, proactive, and able to lead confidently under pressure.

Desirable

  • Advanced SCI care knowledge: bowel/bladder management, autonomic dysreflexia, safe transfers, assistive technology.
  • Competency with SPC changes, PEG feeding, stoma care, wound management.
  • Experience training and assessing others.
